It has long since been Dr. Adderley’s dream to become a physiotherapist. A simple field trip to the Rehabilitation Department of Doctors Hospital made such an impact that to this day, it has not been forgotten. After many years of study, the dream became reality.
The journey began at University of the Bahamas (then The College of the Bahamas) with an Associate of Artsin Biology with Chemistry and continued at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Pre-Physical Therapy and a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, completed with honors in December 2012.
While working on several internships in graduate school, she took an interest in lymphatic massage as demonstrated by one of her clinical instructors. The experience was powerful and she found herself wanting to help the Bahamian public with this treatment.
Once her studies abroad were complete, Dr. Adderley returned to the Bahamas, where she further developed an impassioned interest in the area of cancer rehabilitation. Specialized training and certifications include lymphedema management, cancer rehabilitation, the lumbosacral complex, hand therapy, hand splinting, muscle energy techniques for the upper extremity and certified kinesiotaping practitioner.
After working in both the acute care and outpatient orthopaedic settings at Doctors Hospital. Adderley Physiotherapy opened its doors in July 2016 and is now located in the Mackey St. Plaza, Mackey Street where the journey towards giving “Quality healthcare provided by healing hands” continues…
